Assam Science Society to Provide Educational Materials to Flood-Affected Students
GUWAHATI, July 28, 2026 — The Assam Science Society (ASS) has announced a series of relief initiatives for people affected by the recent floods in Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts, including the distribution of free educational materials to students from flood-affected families.
The Society said the initiative aims to ensure that students are able to continue their education despite the disruption caused by the floods.
To implement the programme, ASS has begun mobilising financial contributions from its members. The Society said the support would help minimise interruptions to the academic pursuits of students who have suffered losses during the floods.
Apart from assisting students, several district branches of the Assam Science Society have stepped up relief activities in their respective areas.
The Gaurisagar-Dikhoumukh branch has launched a special initiative to assist flood-affected farmers by cultivating paddy seedlings on nearly four bighas of land and distributing them free of cost for replanting.
The Society said the initiatives are intended to support affected families as they recover from the floods and rebuild their livelihoods.
