Gogoi blames Centre for ravaging flood fury
Senior Congress leader and former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi blamed it all on the Centre for the ravaging flood fury that wreaks huge havoc in the state where at least 30 people were killed.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday, Gogoi said the state government could not ensure repairing and construction dykes since the Centre did not release ₹1200 crore meant for the purpose.
“The Centre is responsible. Why it did not release the fund meant for embankment? Had the fund released on time, the embankments could have been repaired or constructed. The extent if damage could have been minimized.
Gogoi, the three time Assam chief minister further criticised his successor Sarbananda Sonowal for staying in New Delhi leaving the marooned people in dire straits. Hr said as chief minister Sonowal should reached out to the flood hit people.
