Police resorts to lathi charge against KMSS activists at Raha

Movement of All kinds of vehicle on National Highway-37 were completely disrupted for over two hours this afternoon when the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti ( KMSS ) activists, Raha and Nagaon district units along with local people of Raha blocked the NH 37 at Raha Chariali.

More than five hundreds people blockaded the Highway at 5.30 pm by standing on the middle of the road shouting slogans against National Highway Authority and state government for not removing the Tool Plaza at Rontholi on NH 37 at Raha. The agitators also alleged against exorbitent road tax collected at the said Tool Plaza from all kinds of vehicles. .

Top police officials of the Nagaon district administration including Raha circle officer rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control but it did not work.The agitators also burnt tyres to stop the movement of the vehicles during agitation.

Raju Bora , KMSS state president who led the agitators arrested by police. Meanwhile, several organizations of Raha have condemned police atrocities on peaceful agitators that left one woman protester injured.
