R-Day at Kalaigaon and Tangla
The 65th Republic Day was celebrated at Kalaigaon and Tangla with gaiety. At Kalaigaon, Dina Moni Das,Circle Officer,Kalaigaon Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Bakori field, Kalaigaon in presence of nearly a thousand people. The Circle Officer paid floral tribute to thousands who had sacrificed their lives for Mother India. He specially mentioned great contributions of freedom fighters of Kalaigaon in Indias freedom struggle namely – Late Pani Ram Das, Late Bangshi Sarma and Late Kamaleswar Sarma.Cultural events were also arranged on the occasion by students of Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School,Kalaigaon HS School, BL English School and UN Academy. Dandi Ram Rabha, MCLA,BTC attended the Republic Day ceremony as the distinguished guest.At Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Kalaigaon campus,Principal, JNV, Kalaigaon hoisted the tricolour.
At Tangla : At Tangla,DN Hazarika,Circle Officer,Harisinga Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Tangla HS School play ground in the presence of nearly three thousand people. 21 contingents of NCC,Scouts and Guides and various local schools took part in march paste event. Speaking on the occasion DN Hazarika requested people to maintain peace in the society and to remember those who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. Four persons namely- Nilomoni Bora (Educationist),Tandra Bose ( Singer), Ganga Prasad Sarma (Gaonburah) and Guna Ram Baglari (VDP) were felicitated for their respective contribution in various fields. Santias Kunjur, MP,Rajya Sabha attended the ceremony as the distinguished guest.
