At a time when the special police officers have been agitating in Dima Hasao district alleging non receipt of salaries for several months, the Assam government has decided to hike the salaries of the home guards. Disclosing this official sources told Assam Times that the home guards’ salary have been hiked to Rs 7,500 salary per month—Rs 3,000 more than the existing amount.

Meanwhile, Barhoongka AC, Kokrajhar beat Manipur IWDSA 3-1 in the ongoing B Bwhwithi memorial Gold Cup held at Jaraguri ground under Gossaigaon subdivision in today's match.
For Barhoongka, Mwuku Michael scored two goal in 27 minutes & 74 minutes and Lamminthang Touthang in 89 minutes while Raju Singh of Manipur reduced a goal scoring in 86 minutes in the second half.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi wants deployment of Sashtra Seema Bal along the Assam-Nagaland border which at times, turns volatile.
In a letter Union home minister Rajnat Singh on Thursday, Gogoi said that necessary directions should be passed to Nagaland and SSB authorities for ensuring early return of the affected families from the relief camps.
