Guwahati: A police team has arrested a local BJP leader in Guwahati after it registered a suo motto case alleging a scam in the recruitment of employees in the panchayat and rural development department.
On the basis of some preliminary evidence, the police team probing the scam held Rajib Parashar from a Dhaba after conducting a raid at his residence in Sixth Mile area in the city.
Many startling revelations are believed to have tumbled out during interrogation and a few names of senior political leaders and bureaucrats are coming to light.
The recruitment process took place 2 years back with a written test where lots of allegations and anomalies surfaced. The allegations were denied by the government.
