Seat sharing equations : Resentment brews among UPPL workers
Udalguri: The pre-poll dynamics of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and United People's Party Liberal(UPPL) in regard of seat sharing of the 12 Assembly seats of the four districts of the Bodo belt have not gone well with the ticket aspirants and party workers of a section of UPPL party in Udalguri district who have expressed resentment and staged protest demonstration against the BJP and burnt effigies of NEDA convenor Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma; BJP National General Secretary and Mangaldoi Lok Sabha MP,Dilip Saikia and Rajya Sabha MP cum BJP candidate of Paneri LAC , Biswajit Daimari at Bhergaon in Udalguri district on Saturday. The party workers renting slogans against the BJP accusing them of playing 'power centric' politics have demanded that UPPL must project candidates in Paneri and Kalaigaon LAC in a friendly contest with BJP taking into consideration the grassroot suppprt of UPPL in the constituencies.
"I being an ticket aspirant of UPPL for Paneri LAC have observed that the BJP candidates of Paneri and Kalaigaon are non-local candidates and people of the region are not going to vote them in the forthcoming Assembly polls " said UPPL leader ,Manmohan Boro . He further asserted that if UPPL party doesn't project him as an candidate he is ready to contest as an independent candidate with his supporters.
Reacting to the protests and resentment among UPPL workers Rajya Sabha MP cum BJP candidate of Paneri LAC , Biswajit Daimari said, "Difference of opinions are inevitable in politics and democracy and the party decisions are binding on the workers " He further asserted that the BJP party have projected him as an candidate of Paneri LAC and a party takes decisions for the welfare of common good and not on personal interests " .Pertinelty BJP will project candidates in 4 LAC's out of 12 LAC's .

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.
