BPF nominates Chandan Brahma and Sahadev Das

The Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) declared Chandan Brahma and Sahadev Das as the party candidates for Kokrajhar and Mongoldoi constituencies at a party meeting held today in Kokrajhar.

Though Chandan Brahma’s name, who is holding transport minister in state government was not among the list of four aspiring candidates for the party ticket for Kokrajhar seat, Party president Hagrama Mohilary declared his name terming it as the interest of the party.

The party president Hagrama Mohilary, who is also BTC Chief, said Chandan Brahma was chosen as he is popular and acceptable to all section of people. On Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, Mohilary said he is not acceptable among non-Bodos though majority Bodo people wanted him. Later talking to Reporters, Bwiswmuthiary termed it a family conspiracy against him. He said party president Hagrama Mohilary making the party as one man-party and a murder of democracy which is unacceptable to the people. He said he had been working for the interest of people of Bodoland and raising issues, including on Bodoland on the floor of Parliament. He question on the commitment of Mohilary on the demand of Bodoland state. Bwiswmuthiary said he had the support of over 5 lakhs people and would discuss with his supporter on whether he should contest as independent. He said he would go as per the decision of his supporters and contests as independent if they wanted.

Mohilary said his party declared today nomination for Kokrajhar and Mongaldoi seats and his party candidatures would get majority votes in both constituencies. He said that peoples want new face of candidate and hence party nominates Brahma to contest ensuing parliamentary election in Kokrajhar.

Meanwhile the BPF party releases its election manifesto which highlights all round development. It also included to carry on democratic movement for creation of separate Bodoland state until and unless achieved involving all community; proper implementation of Bodo accord. It also said the party will urges both state and central govt to provide ex-gratia to those who have returned to mainstream, surrendered like NDFB, Birsa Munda Commando,Cobra militant force,ULFA, Bengal tiger force, demanding of relief and rehabilitation department to hand over to BTC, establishment of Central university, Ayurvedic college and pharmaceutical institutes in Bodoland region. The manifesto also said that the party would stepped to support the creation of Nath Jogi satellite council, support creation of Kamatapur, and also formation of Miyaland and support to the creation of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao state upgrading from autonomous council.

Security forces arrested a hardcore Adivasi Dragon Fighter (ADF) militant at Batabari village in Chirang district on Monday. Acting on secret inputs a joint team of police, army, SSB operation Mangal Murmu was captured. A live round of 9mm pistol and four mobile phones along with 2 simcards were seized from him.Mangal Murmu disclosed that he was an active cadre of the Adivashi Dragon Fighters. Security forces have claimed to capture a NDFB-S cadre from Serfanguri bazar early morning on Sunday under Serfanguri Police station in Kokrajhar district. According to police, based on an input about presence of the militant outfit cadres in the area, a joint team of police and army launched an operation in the area manage to arrest a cadre of the NDFB-S along with arms from Serfanguri bazar this morning around 4.30 am. The arrested was identified as Doukha Narzary@ N Doctai, a Myanmar trained cadre of the organization in 2013. A country made 9 mm pistol and four live amunitions were recovered from him.

Security forces captured a top NDFB-S militant at an encounter insurgency operation in Chirang district on Friday. According to police, identified as Rongja Raj, the outfit’s chief of the army has been captured in the morning and a huge cache of arms were seized from his possession. Raj was next to B Bidai, the dreaded leader who was responsible many gory incidents during the last couple of years. His security guard Junglao Narzary was also captured along with him.
