Police firing toll goes up to 4

Yet another person died on Saturday three days after he sustained injury in Golaghat police firing.

Identified as Gokul Barik, the 20-year-old daily wage earner succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours at a Guwahati hospital.

Baraik was injured in Wednesday's police firing in Golaghat. He was admitted to Jorhat hospital with bullet injury and later referred to Guwahati. With this, the toll in Golaghat police firing has gone up to 4.

At least seven organisations, which called an indefinite shutdown of the district to protest the state government's failure to handle the recent violence in the inter-state border, also called off the shutdown on Thursday night. /
