There seems to be no let up in the flood scene on Tuesday that ravaged four districts forcing the authorities to deploy 11 NDRF teams comprising 550 personnel in relief and rescue operations. Two each are being airlifted from Patna and Odisha on Tuesday.
NDRF teams are carrying boats and other equipment at Boko, Goalpara, Guwahati, Sonitpur, North Lakhimpur, Tinsukia and Dhemaji. The situation in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts further worsened on Tuesday as the river Subansiri in in spate.
The death toll in the current wave of flood has risen to three with one person washed away at Chauldhua village in Lakhimpur on Monday evening.
Heavy rainfall has led to the overflowing of the Subansiri forced over 500 families in Lakhimpur district to take shelter in relief camps. In Dhemaji, the breach in an embankment of River Jiadhol at Tekjuri has resulted in no less misery for ten thousand people.
