Himanta seeks time to appear

Congress legislator Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged CBI probing the Saradha chit fund scam to give him 2 or 3 days time to appear before the SIT in Kolkata saying that he was in New Delhi for an urgent party work.

Through his legal adviser, Sarma informed he would be able to appear before the SIT by Wednesday. Sarma on Monday morning left for New Delhi along with 10 of his loyalists to reiterate their demands before the party high command.

Meanwhile, CBI on Monday grilled two senior Newslive officials at CGO Complex in Kolkata in connection with the Saradha scam. Channel director Rajiv Bhuyan and CA Dhiraj Jain produced before the CBI officials the details of the ad related papers with Saradha.
