The employees of Nagaon Paper Mill under Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) recently paid floral tributes to Sahityarathi Lakhminath Bezbaruah on his 150 birth anniversary in their recreation & welfare club complex.
Organized by HPC employees’ recreation & welfare club, Jagiroad on December 13, the programme witnessed delivery of memorial lecture, cultural show by the children and lighting of 150 earthen lamps in the evening.
Assam’s national song ‘Oo Moar Aponar Desh, Oo Moar Chikuni Desh ----‘ was also performed in different languages including Assamese, Tiwa, Boro, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali by the students and artists from the vicinity of the HPC colony.
The Nagaon paper mill chief executive Paban Kumar Bhuyan led the employees in garlanding and paying floral tributes to one of the greatest sons of Assam. Pradip Saikia from Assamese department of Morigaon College and Hema Kanta Chutia from Jagiroad College delivered their lectures highlighting the multi-directional contributions of Rasaraj Bezbaruah to the Assamese society.
The meeting, inaugurated by the recreation & welfare club president Dwijen Thakuria was also addressed by Atanu Sharma, secretary of Asom Unnati Sadhini Sabha and Ujjal Moni Phukan, adviser of the celebration committee.
Anchored by Dharmendra Saikia, a senior employee of the paper mill, the cultural show was enriched by a Sangitalekhya (dance drama), which was performed by the kids of HPC family under the direction of Aniruddha Deka.
