Fans recall S K Bhuyan

Pragjyoti Communications and Hitakalpa, Tuesday observed the birth anniversary of noted historian, academician and former administrator, late Dr. Surya Kumar Bhuyan at his residence in Uzan Bazar. Several academics, teachers, journalists, lawyers besides Bhuyan’s family members and fans attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion Hitakalpa, presidentBaniBikram Sharma urged the Government of Assam to take adequate steps to preserve Bhuyan’sworks.Bhuyan made tremendous contributions in an effort to create an ambience of methodical historical research in Assam and penned several books during his lifetime.

Bhuyan’s bust was set up at his residence under the aegis of Pragjyoti Communications on January 17, 2015.It was inaugurated by former AsomXahityaXabha president Kanak Sen Deka.
