Bodofa UN Brahma remembered

 The All Bodo Students Union and UN BrahmaTrust (UNBT) remembered contribution of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the students union on his 59th birth anniversary today at Tulungapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar. 

Irrespective of community leaders, students, student union leaders including Promod Boro, president of Absu, Sameswar Brahma , elder brother of Bodofa,Krishna Gopal Basumatary, Director of UN Academy, Pradip Kumar Brahma, Mla,BTC member Indra Mahan Brahma  paid rich floral tribute to late Brahma and prayed for eaternal peace of Brahma's soul.

Promod Boro said that Bodofa was a great leader of Bodo and other downtrodden communities in the region . He said that the students union will keep alive if ideology and philosophy of Bodofa who had contributed lots towards building healthy of  integration among various communities. He said that students union has been organising his anniversary every year as Students Day on March 31 to mark his birth anniversary. He said Bodofa had dreamt a master race of Bodos in the world and worked for upliftment of the society till his last breath. 

An open meeting was also held on the occasion . Prof Ajit Boro, Prof Berlao K Karjee graced the meeting and addressed.

Security forces claimed to have killed two hardcore cadre of NDFB-S in an encounter at Auxiguri-Auguri area under Auguri PS in Chirang district early this morning. A joint team of security forces belonging to Assam Police, CRPF cobra battalion and Army raided the area and held exchange of fire where two hardcore cadre of the Ndfb-s militant outfit were killed, duo were involved killing of Priya Basumatary, a school going student last year, a senior police officer told. One of duo was identified as Gumsang Basumatary @ Gunda and another was yet to identified. The Gumsang was platoon commander of Chirang district. An M 16 Riffle, one AK 56 riffle were recovered from them.
A citizen's meeting was held at Bhotgaon bazaar to discuss about social integration and check of anti social activities taken from unknown miscreants in the area of Kokrajhar district today.The meeting was organised by Bhotgaon bazaar committee in association with Kokrajhar district ABMSU and urged the district administration to take stern step against extortion, kidnapping and anti social activities that are creating resentment among common publics.The meeting strongly demanded early rescues of a Rakibul Ali, 13 years old, who was still went missing since April last . Security forces captured a hardcore NDFB-S militant in Chirang district on Thursday. Identified as  Swmbla Basumatary@ Suhitap, the dreaded NDFB-S militant was held from Runikhata area in the BTAD district. Police further claimed to have seized several rounds of live bullets from his possession.      'The arrest of finance secretary has jolted strength of the militant outfit', said a senior police officer in BTAD region.

Kokrajhar police are preparing to firmly deal with the militants who have been unleashing a reign of terror in the form of anti social activities in the BTAD district.Addressing a press conference in Kokrajhar on Wednesday, SP Shyamal Prasad Saikia said that an intensified crackdown against NDFB-S, ULFA (I), Rabha Viper Army (RVA), KLO, Adivasi militants who have been hiding in the district. He also disclosed that KLO, RVA militant outfits are trying to make their strength felt in the lower Assam districts.
Security forces claimed to have killed a dreaded NDFB-S militant at an encounter in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.The encounter took place at Gossaigaon in the wee hours. Acting on a tip off army, police and para military forces launched at Nukhuwa area where the encounter took place. Identified as Kamal Brahma, the militant died on the spot. Police recovered a pistol from the spot.

DoNER minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said the Centre will extend all possible help to the state government in the time of flood. Talking to reporters during his stock taking visit to Kokrajhar on Tuesday, the Union minister said the prompt response of the government helped the state minimize flood casualities.Accompanied by revenue minister Dr. Bhumidhar Barman and Guwahati MP Bijaya Chakraborty, Dr Singh visited the flood affected areas of Bongaigaon in a chartered helicopter and landed at Dhaligaon BGR stadium.Talking to media, he said Prime Minister and home minister are keeping close watched of the flood situation and that they have yet to receive the report on the extent of flood damages.
Water resources minister Basanta Das visited the flood affected areas of Chirang district and assessed the loss of damages by the recent flood on Sunday.He visited the flood affected areas and Aie River bank erosion site at Dumgaon,  Palangsubari (Thulsijhora) and Goraimari as well as at Aipoali.Talking to reporters, Das said the excessive rainfall in the district had inundated several low lying areas and caused large scale destruction. The district administration has been asked to assess the loss and compensation to be given to the affected people.He was accompanied by MLA Bhupen Ray, BTC MCLAs Rwngwra Narzary, Maoti Brahma Hazowary, Nirmal Kr.Brahma and Chirang DC Rupak Kr.
