Tablet PC distributed

As part of CM's Special Award Scheme, Tablets with Citations were ceremonially distributed to the 2nd Division holders of HSLC and AHM Examinations-2014 today at Kajalgaon High School of Chirang district.

The programme was presided over by the Chirang DC Rupak Kr. Mazumdar and attended by the BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari as chief guest, ADC Dasarat Das, Bijni SDO Civil Oinam Saran Singh, EAC Jitu Kr. Barman, IS Jaypal Sing Brahma and DFO Subha Brahma among others .

Giving away the awards to the students,  the BTC deputy chief and in charge  for Education, Forest and Tourism Departments Borgoyari first of all congratulated the awardees and called upon to be dedicated and sincere in their studies as the competions in present day world among the students in every aspects were getting tougher day by day. "With the help of these Tablets, through internet use the students will enter new world and get the benefit of progressive education", Kampa said. He informed about the steps being taken by the BTC authority since its inception and planing of organising a Seminar on 30th and 31st May at Kokrajhar involving Axom Sahitya Sabha, Bongo Sahitya Sabha, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Santali Sahitya Sabha, Nepali Sahitya Sabha, Students' organisations, Heads of both govt and non-govt institutions, intellectuals, educationists and selected parents of students etc. with a view to upgrading the education scenerio of BTC area. 

In his presidential address, the DC Mazumdar has asked the awardees to utilise the Tablet PCs properly in gathering knowledges for future use. In the programme 444 students, who excelled in the HSLC and AHM examinations-2014 with minimum 50% marks were given away the prizes. In 2013, the Second Division pass percentage was 264 in the district.

Earlier, Kampa Borgoyari was felicitated by the Chirang district Teachers' Association.

Police and local residents in Santinagar area of Kokrajhar rescued a three-years-old boy by holding the kidnappers red handed on Thursday.Kidnapped ten days back, the minor boy Manash Mazumdar was rescued from Bishmuri area in the morning.He was kidnapped by some unknown miscreants from Santinagar who was rescued during a search operation much to the relief of his parents.Identified as Ananta Debnath of Salakati Banderchara, Manash Mazumdar Ananta revealed his misdeed.He confessed to have kidnapped the boy and took away by an authorikswa from his house. Sensation prevails in Chirang district hours after four people sustained injury in miscreant attack forcing police to step up investigation. The incident took place at Dhaligaon where unidentified miscreants attacked a group of people in the evening. Local residents told Assam Times that three miscreants suddenly attack a group of ten people on the road and vanished from the spot. Injured have been undergoing treatment at the Bongaigaon Civil Hospital. Police investigation is going on to nab the culprits involved in the attack.
