Assams Lakhimpur District. Around 10,000 illegal Bagladeshi immigrants moved out of Arunachal Pradesh today and landed in Assam. The move is widely supported by the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Government of Assam has not commented on this till now. It is felt in Lakhimpur that the Goverment will only keep silent on the issue and Lakhimpur will be hard pressed to deal with this problem.

At this rate, one day whole of NE will become a part of Bangladesh. Assam and North Bengal are the ones which are hit badly by the influx of Bangladeshis. Soon, the indigeneous people of Assam and North Bengal would be in minority.
Russia has evinced its keen interest to invest in Assam's oil and gas, tourism, power and infrastructure sectors. Tribal villagers carry a malaria patient to the hospital in a remote village of Bilaihum, about 75 kms west of Agartala, Tripura on 03-05-08. Official said that at least 18 personnel died due to malaria throughout the state in last 15 days. Only last week the Italian ambassador to India has visited the state and declared to fund projects of International Federation of Red Cross in Tripura to irradiate the dreadful malaria disease that claims hundred of lives every year in spite of several precautionary measures. Mired in a controversy, the Assam govt has decided it will ask CBI to probe the rhino poachings in Assam. According to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, following an aroused demand, the government has decided to order a CBI probe into the killing of at least 27 rhinos in the Kaziranga National Park and the Rajiv Gandhi wildlife sanctuary in Orang since last December.The government earlier ordered the transfer of Kaziranga Divisional Forest Officer Bankim Sharma and formed a nine-member committee to ascertain the reasons behind it.Meanwhile, the panel has already started investigation and have visited the three rhino bearing areas of the state, Kaziranga, Orang and Pabitora game sanctuary.It may...
The United Liberation Front of Asom has charged a section of people with trying to buy good names with the ongoing peace process. In its latest edition of Freedom, ULFA has said only a political solution could help Assam restore permanent peace on its soil. The outfit has welcomed Dr Indira Goswami for her untiring bid to ensure peace process and criticized the government saying the government’s talks with the PCG failed only because of the lack of goodwill from the part of the government. A country wide down to dusk strike sponsored by the Opposition National Democratic Alliance has paralyzed normal life from early in the morning on Friday. Shops and business establishments are down their shutters in response to the strike called in protest against the galloping price hike.
