The centre is closely monitoring the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur. Violence will only compound the problem. Need of the hour is exercising restraint. This was more or less of what a home ministry team said in Manipur on Tuesday when they were on a stock taking visit to the restive north eastern state a month after 9 people died in a orgy of violence after the assembly passed three controversial bills.
The central team headed by Ashok Prasad, told the agitating people to exercise restraint when they talked to them after arriving in Churachandpur in the morning. Here is the excerpt of the speech for the agitating people.
"I can feel their pains and I understand their extend of bereavement. Loss of lives would always be a tragedy more so when it involved those who are plucked away in the prime of their lives. As a brother I share your tears and grief and as a friend I stand by you in your prayers for peace to the departed souls.
These are difficult time that we faced today. A difficult situation that can only be move forward with the help and sympathetic participations of all the stake holders. In fact the relative calm that we produced here today is a tribute to your understanding in the face of great tragedy. I appeal to all of you for continuation of this steering and I particularly the role play by the mothers and ladies of this area who have appeared in the forefront in helping to stabilized and pacified an extremely volatile situations.
I am also grateful to the elders and leaders of this area for their guidance and their directions that they have provided and continue to provide to steer us through this stormy period. I pray to them to continue to guide and advise us as we work toward the speedy resolution of the issue and the avoidance of further tragedy.
After this I'll be interacting with the different stake holders assisting and listening to their words of concerns and I will be taking their valuable suggestions. Some of you have already been interacting with the Central government and I am aware of their concerns and of the commitment of the government in Delhi to join prosperity and peace of this region with the rest of the country. It will be my endeavor to understand the nuances and complexity of the situation so that necessary and effective steps can be initiated at appropriate levels to bring back peace and stability to this area."

KOHIMA:Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang has urged the investors to set up bamboo processing plant in the state in view of the plenty of raw materials. In his address at the governing body meeting of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Authority, Zeliang said the north eastern state has huge potential for bamboo processing plants since 11 districts have registered good growth in bamboo plantation. He said sending bamboo outside the state wont be viable since it is costly to transport the raw material from the remote areas. Hence, setting up bamboo plants in the state would be an ideal and lucrative initiative.
GUWAHATI:A local court in the city of Guwahati rejected the bail petitions moved by the KMSS leaders a day after police arrested them for allegedly disrupting the ongoing eviction drive in the Amchang Wildlife sanctuary. Identified as Bedanta Laskar, Dharya Konwar and Gopi Saikia were produced before the chief judicial magistrate on Tuesday who remanded the trio to the jail.Notably, police arrested them on Monday as they staged protest against the eviction drive along with the illegal settlers who were evicted. Police have charged them with trying to fuel the protest by the evicted people. For the second consecutive day, police conducted a raid at the KMSS office on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI:Hundreds of people from three organizations from BTAD areas have staged dharna in Delhi on Tuesday reviving the Bodoland demand. With banners, festoons and play cards, the ABSU, NDFB-P and PJCMB leaders and workers thronged the Ramlila Ground in the capital where they staged the dharna for nearly two hours raising the seperate statehood demand. GUWAHATI: Stung by widespread criticism and simmering anger of the landless lot, chief minister Sarbanand Sonowal orders early steps to rehabilitate those evicted in the Amchang wildlife sanctuary, Lakhimpur and Karbi Anglong. According to sources, Sonowal asked forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma and her cabinet Naba Kumar Doley to ensure early steps to rehabilitate these people.
GUWAHATI:The Board of Secondary Education, Assam on Tuesday has as announced the schedule of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2018. The examination will take place from February 18, 2018 which will conclude on March 19 across the state. The state secondary education board will only admit black ink this time.
HOJAI: Two IAS aspirants from Assam in New Delhi have received a huge encouragement when the Ajmal Foundation announced the duo as the beneficiaries of a scheme meant to help the civil service aspirants. Shoma Roy, a local resident of Lanka would get a financial assistance from the organization to pursue coaching for the civil service examination.
