The centre is closely monitoring the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur. Violence will only compound the problem. Need of the hour is exercising restraint. This was more or less of what a home ministry team said in Manipur on Tuesday when they were on a stock taking visit to the restive north eastern state a month after 9 people died in a orgy of violence after the assembly passed three controversial bills.
The central team headed by Ashok Prasad, told the agitating people to exercise restraint when they talked to them after arriving in Churachandpur in the morning. Here is the excerpt of the speech for the agitating people.
"I can feel their pains and I understand their extend of bereavement. Loss of lives would always be a tragedy more so when it involved those who are plucked away in the prime of their lives. As a brother I share your tears and grief and as a friend I stand by you in your prayers for peace to the departed souls.
These are difficult time that we faced today. A difficult situation that can only be move forward with the help and sympathetic participations of all the stake holders. In fact the relative calm that we produced here today is a tribute to your understanding in the face of great tragedy. I appeal to all of you for continuation of this steering and I particularly the role play by the mothers and ladies of this area who have appeared in the forefront in helping to stabilized and pacified an extremely volatile situations.
I am also grateful to the elders and leaders of this area for their guidance and their directions that they have provided and continue to provide to steer us through this stormy period. I pray to them to continue to guide and advise us as we work toward the speedy resolution of the issue and the avoidance of further tragedy.
After this I'll be interacting with the different stake holders assisting and listening to their words of concerns and I will be taking their valuable suggestions. Some of you have already been interacting with the Central government and I am aware of their concerns and of the commitment of the government in Delhi to join prosperity and peace of this region with the rest of the country. It will be my endeavor to understand the nuances and complexity of the situation so that necessary and effective steps can be initiated at appropriate levels to bring back peace and stability to this area."

Vice president M Venkaiah Naidu is on a two days visit to the north eastern city of Guwahati. During his maiden visit as vice president on Sunday he is attending a programme in Sarusajai based Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. This would be followed by another programme at Sankardev Kalakhetra. GUWAHATI: The United Liberation Front of Asom (I) has deeply condoled the loss of Rajen Deka who was killed at an encounter with security forces in Udalguri on Friday wee hours. GUWAHATI:The Gauhati High Court on Friday asked the forest department and Kamrup(metro) administration to keep evicting the commercial structure in the Amchang wildlife sanctuary. In response to a formal appeal moved by the government, the court which temporarily stayed the eviction on Thursday said on Friday that only the settlers and their houses have come under the purview of the stay order. It allowed the authorities to keep evicting the commercial structures in the wildlife sanctuary.
TANGLA: Security forces claimed to have killed a dreaded ULFA-I rebel at an encounter in Udalguri district on Friday. The encounter is said to have taken place in a remote area near Tangla where a few rebels were believed to have been hiding. The fierce gin fight erupted as army and police launched the counter insurgency operation in the remote hamlet on Nalbari where Rajen Deka, a senior leader in rank of segment died on the spot. Others managed to escape from the spot and the security forces have cordoned off the entire area from early in the morning in search of the hiding rebels. TINSUKIA: A local resident of Tinsukis is keen to settle the evicted people in Amchang wildlife sanctuary fetching a ray of hope for the hapless lot. He is none other than Uday Saikia, the owner of a huge hotel who along with his family members have disclosed it in the social media saying that they would help these people settle in a plot of 10 bighas which draws a huge response from the people of all walks.
