Barhoongka beat Dhupdhara
Barhoongka AC from Kokrajhar defeated Dhupdhara Football Academy from Goalpara 2-1 in the opening match of 16th edition of the Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup football championship, 2015 which has kicked here at KDSA ground today in Kokrajhar.
For Barhoongka, Bibek Gurung and Lamminthang Touthang scored one each goal in 59th minutes and 88th minutes while Issac Sangma of Dhupdhara reduced a goal scoring in 81th minutes in the second half and lost to Barhoongka 1-2.
Sanswarang SC from Serfanguri is taking on Jothai SC from Gendrabil on Monday.
BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary inaugurated the championship in the huge crowd attending as chief guest.
The championship has been organised by ex BLT welfare society in association with Kokrajhar district sports association (KDSA) in memory of martyrs, who were sacrifice their lives for the caused of separate Bodoland state movement.
Altogether 10 teams are participating in the championship which included Jaraguri Football Academy, Salbagan FC, Gossaigaon; Global FC, Gossaigaon; Bongaigaon XI Star, New Model Sports Club, Udalguri; Barhoongka AC, Kokrajhar; Dhupdhara Football Academy, Goalpara;Cheorapoli FC, Kolkata; Jothai Club, Gendrabil and Sanswrang Sports Club, Serfanguri.
The championship team would be awarded Rs. 50,000 and a trophy while runners up team will be given away Rs. 25, 000 and a trophy.

Gossaigaon Global Sports Academy has entered into final defeating Food Corporation of India (FCI),Guwahati in today’s second semi final match being played at Dhawliguri ground in Kokrajhar.Jwngbla Basumatary of Global scored his lone goal in 30th minutes of the first half against FCI and led the match 1-0. BTC executive member for Transport Department James Basumatary distributed Tata Wingers and Auto Rickshaws to boost alternative employment in a function held at the BTC Secretariat Complex at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. About 200 Tata Wingers and Auto Rickshaws were given away to educated unemployed youths of ten sub-divisions in four districts of the council under Bodoland Vikash Yajana (BVY) through the Chief’s Discretionary Fund. The Bodoland Territorial Council is unhappy with Rockybul Hussain after the forest minister withdrew the AFPF forces from BTAD areas following the Ultapani incident where suspected NDFB-S militants took away arms from the forces at gunpoint.Speaking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari said that the government has withdrawn AFPF without any intimation. “Rather the government should have engaged more forces for protection and conservation purpose,” said Borgoyari.He further asked NDFB(Songbijit faction) to return the arms they snatched from the eco task force in Ultapani for the greater interest of protection of forest and wildlife in the Bodoland region.
