Preparations to hold the National Handloom expo 2015-16 here at Sudempuri has so far completed by this evening which will be kicked off from Monday in Kokrajhar.

Speaking the reporters today at the expo vaenue Sudempuri NN Rana Patgiri,managing director of Bodoland Regional Apex Weavers & Artisans Co-operative Federation Ltd(Brawfed) told that the national event will be a 20 day programme scheduled to be highlighted hanadwoven items and woolen clothes.The national event was organised by BRAWFED in collaboration with development commissioner of Hanlooms,ministry of Textiles,Govt of India to keep healthy growth of India handlooms. He said that stalls from all over the states from across the country including Assam are participating.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will grace as chief guest on the inauguration function tomorrow.

Cultural progarmmes,musical nite,quize,seminar and fashion show have also been organised in the national event.

A memorial lecture on Bhaskar Pradip Mahanta was organized by Sanscritic Mahasabha, Assam Kokrajhar district samiti on Sunday in Kokrajhar at Basic Training Centre. Noted artiste Rabiram Brahma lighted the lamp to inaugurate the function. Kokrajhar seeks 65 company of security forces

Kokrajhar district administration has been seek 65 companies of security forces to conduct the upcoming Assam Assembly election in free and fair for three LACs in the district slated to be held on April 11 next during second phase of the election in Assam. Tribal organisation oppose ST status to six communities

Candle light by ABSU
