BP unified with BPF

In a well gesture of party strength of BPF ahead assembly election in Bodoland region of Assam, a grand unification of BPPF with BPF under the leadership of Rabiram Narzary, president of BPPF was held on SUnday at Tulungapuri Dotma if Lower Assam's Kokrajhar district. 

Narzary, was accompanied party general secretary and thousands of party activists and supporters, declared party's unified with BPF to create more development and unity among society in the region.  He said that his party come into unified to meet healthy and integrated through working of peace and prosperity. 

Hagrama Mohilary, BPF supremo and BTC chief, party MP, MLA, senior party leaders were also present on the unification function. 

It is to be noted that both Narzary and Mohilary factionised in BPPF and BPF party in 2005 after signing historical Bodo Accord in 2003. 

Mohilary has welcome Rabiram Narzary and party members in the meeting said that now his party become a grand unified. He also said that his party will score good result in the assembly election

Assam bandh total in Kokrajhar

Normal life remained heavily paralyzed in Kokrajhar on Saturday following the 12 hour statewide Assam bandh called in protest the Centre's refugee decision. Kokrajhar wore a deserted look from 6 in the morning under impact of the total bandh. Ire over security lift

Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.  

DDC meeting of Chirang held

The district development committee (DDC) meeting of Chirang district was held at conference hall of the district centre at Kajalgaon. Principal ousted

Protest against principal

Students of the Saint John's Higher Secondary (HS) School in Barama of Baksa district have been bearing the brunt of teachers strike for the last two days alleging the autocratic style of functioning by Father Raimon, principal of the school. The teachers alleged that Raimon has been running the school on his own decision and policy since last two years.

NDFB-S rebels arrested, ammunition recovered

Two  senior NDFB-S rebels, were arrested from two separate places in Chirang district on Wednesday. Talking to Assam Times at Kajalgaon in Chirang on Wednesday, BTAD IGP Dr. LR Bishnoi told that a search operation was conducted in the morning around 5am to 9 am where Biron Narzary alias N  Bapeibai, 29, was arrested from Patabari jungle area under Amguri police station. Son kills father in Kokrajhar

In a shocking incident that a person killed his own father following family quarrel at Titaguri Bhawanipur under Kokrajhar police station late last night which created a shocking situation among villagers in Kokrajhar district.According to source, one Milonji Basumatary (30) killed his own father identified as Grebial Basumatary (60) following a family quarrel at around 7.30 pm late last night at his resident at Titaguri Bhawanipur under Kokrajhar police station.Milonji hit his father with a piece of log and Grebial died on the spot. Later, Milonji absconded from the spot.A police team from Kokrajhar police station rushed the spot and recovered body from the house.
