Modi magic mum on real issues

On January 19, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed Assam for a day-ong tour. The preparation for Modi’s visit was very massive specially after BPF (Bodo People’s Front) and BJP made a pre-poll alliance just two days before his visit. BPF leader Hagrma Mahilari made an official announcement in Delhi by saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would announce a package of 1000 crore for the development for BTAD in Kokrajhar rally. This announcement by BPF got a massive media attention as the alliance between BJP and BPF just before Assam poll was seen as a master stroke by state BJP leaders. Modi arrived at BPF’s meeting in Kokrajhar and witnessed a warm welcome by the people of Bodoland. Everyone along with the BPF leaders was expecting the announcement of 1000 cr by Modi during his address. Infact crowds in the program were brought by BPF by stating about the particular package. Even Hagrma Mahilari asked publically Modi for the 1000 cr for the development of the region. But there was no announcement by the prime minister on this particular demand which left people in shock and opening a path for congress to escalate their attack on Modi and BJP.

Modi did not have any specific plan for development of BTAD region in his speech.

The question raised by him on the use of the funds in the developmentelf put BPF in danger as they have been ruling the BTAD for almost for 10 years. Where the funds going? Modi should ask their new ally BPF.

But Modi knew very well how to reach the emotions of the Bodo people as he started the speech by using Bodo language. But this time it seems Modi lacked in doing homework before visiting Assam.

After Kokrajhar, Modi reached khanapara for BJP’s youth program. The crowd was massive and they were expecting Modi’s magical speech. Modi started his speech with his signature style by addressing the crowd in Assamese. He criticized the current congress government for bad governance and also targeted former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for doing nothing at all for the state. He also accused Congress by calming that the party who ruled Assam for 15 years has no right to ask about his performance as Prime Minister. But again this time Modi was silent on many issues of the state.

Modi was very much silent on allowing the illegal Bangladeshi migrants to be setteled in Assam by neglecting the Assam accord.

He was very much silent on  mega dam issue.

He kept quite on the issues and problems of six tribes of Assam.

He did not mention any particular action plan for the development of Assam if BJP form the next government in the state.

No plans to solve flood problem of the state.

Modi’s this particular stand will helping the weak congress party retreat and making a path for forming the next government for the record fourth term. Tarun Googi also escalated the attack on Modi and State BJP leaders by calming that Modi don’t have the adequate knowledge of Assam and just beating around the bush. So Modi somehow pushed BJP as of now by giving Congress an opportunity to influence the voters.
