Amritpur Church celebrates silver jubilee
The Silver Jubilee celebration of the Amritpur Pastorate Committee, Church of North India (CNI) was concluded at Amritpur Church compound after three-days colorful programme scheduled in Kokrajhar.
Anjali Daimary, lecturer of Barama College graced as chief guest on the open session of concluding day today.
Daimary, in her speech said that the Christian society was working to the welfare of the social upliftment through devotion and prayers among society. The followers of the god should keep believe on their working and make healthy integration.
A prayer session to bring peace and harmony among all section of society during the programme was organised.Devotees and participants from various parts of the state participated in the celebration.
Rev.Norojit Basumatary,Kornolius Basumatary,Jagadish Narzary were prominent attendees in the session.

The flood situation threatens to take further grim turn if the weathermen are to be believed.
Meteorological centre in Guwahati has predicted more rainfall in the state during the next 48 hours.
It would further compound the scene in 10 districts. These flood hit districts have received excess rain during the last ten days. Chirang and Goalpara recorded 312 per cent and 243 per cent excess rain respectively.

Muslims around Tangla town celebrated Eid-ul-Zuha -the festival of sacrifice with religious fervour and enthusiasm on Saturday, with people praying for peace, prosperity and amity. Hundreds of Muslim men thronged Idgah maidan in traditional attire and white caps and offered prayers on the occasion.In Tangla the people thronged Bara Masjid Idgah maidan and Banseria Idgah maidan for special Eid prayers.
Eid-ul-Zuha, also called Id-al-Adha or the "Sacrifice Feast," is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year and is considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God's command. On the occasion, members of the Muslim community also distributed gifts among economically less privileged sections. A festive atmosphere prevailed at various localities as men and children drapped in traditional attires came out in streets.
Religious sermons were also delivered on the occasion for peace and harmony.
While Maulana Mohammed Samaun Ahmed Noori led the prayers at Bara Masjid Idgah Maidan while Maulana Rezakul Islam, led the prayers held in Banseria Eidgah Maidan .Sweets were also exchanged as both Muslims and Hindus greeted each other and feasted after the Eid prayers. Eid prayers were held with at various neighbouring places including Bamunjuli,Garuajhar,Panery,Dimakuchi and Kalaigaon.

The weather in Nazira was agog with activities for 66th Republic Day celebrations along with other parts of the country on Monday. The arrangement passed off smoothly.
The clock struck at 9 in the morning. Civil SDO Mauchumi Baruah proceeded to unfurl the tricolor.
But the bizarre incident took place much to the major embarrassment of the administration. As she tried to unfurl the tricolor, the flag refused to flutter leaving the senior administrative officials red faced.
Then they brought another flag which started fluttering in the sky. Talking to Assam Times, the local residents blamed it all on the administration for utter carelessness which was why the SDO was left red faced. Later she took salute of the police, NCC, and para military forces.
