Mukut Barman, noted social worker of Kokrajhar laid Laikhuta at Rashmela ground to celebrate the ‘Bishuwa Utsav’ with two-day colourful programme scheduled beginning from April 13 next in Kokrajhar.

The utsav has been organising by Bishuwa Utsav Celebration committee to mark the cultural traditions of Koch Rajbongshi community in the world.The Bishuwa is a festival of the community that keep alive of cultural traditions among society said Lakhindra Roy,president of the celebration committee.

Barman,in his speech expressed his hopeful that the utsav would be celebrated in a befitting manner where cultural troupes would showcase their cultural presentation.

Sanjit Singha,secretary,Deepunjay Roy,joint secretary of the celebration committee,noted social worker Buddeswar Roy were among others present on the day.

Police arrested two persons on Thursday, who are involved with illegally distributing pollution certificate  without any vehicles for few years in Kokrajhar district. Police  raided the immission testing centre,owned by Samir Bhattacharya in Kokrajhar town along JD Road near Ramkrishnapur. People alleged that the centre sells pollution testing certificates to  vehicle owners against huge money without proper testing.  
Railway department official in association with Kokrajhar police administration carried out eviction drive against the illegally occupying of railway land near rail station in Kokrajhar today. At least 27 houses were dismantled in the eviction that was carried out to cleared up rail land along railway track west of Kokrajhar station. Peoples,who were evicted said that they have been evicted without prior nitice today.They have been living along the railway lands since few years,but today face eviction situation. 'Illegally settling along rail lands would be evicted as per rules of the department to cleaned up rail tracks', said a senior officer fron Alipur Duar Rail division.

Security forces apprehended three NDFB-S cadres from Taisoguri under Runikhata PS on Chirang district today.  Based on inputs about presence of the militant cadres in tgd area, a joint team of police abd army carried out a search operation and apprehended the cadres at a house if Prahalad Mushahary where they were hiding.They were identified as Dakaru Mushahary, Kapilau Basunatary and Birjay Mushahary.   A 7.65 mm pistol, two magazines, a country made pistol, two grenades, four round ammunitions were recovered from them.
A mountaineering team from Bodoland left for high altitude trekking practice on Sandakphu-2017  under mission   Bodoland on Mount Everest-2019. Bibekananda Choudhury, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner flagged of the team for Sandakphu.  The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has warned to file writ petition in high court seeking proper educational rights.  The students union slammed state government and Assembly state textbook production and publication corporation for delayed supply and shortages textbooks for Bodo medium schools in the state.
