Heartbreak suicide rise in Udalguri
A spate of suicides specially among youths in the last couple of days has sent shockwaves through the district. An alarming 8 cases of suicides during April 30 to May 13 reported in the district. The last two reports are one of 65 year old Bhubaneswar Deka of Teliapara village who allegedly committed suicide at about 2.30 am on Friday and other of a 2nd semester Political science student of Cotton College. The girl a residence of a girl Kaberi Swargiary a resident of Udalguri town who allegedly was found hanging at her home on the evening of Thursday last. The reason behind her extreme step is unknown. After post mortem,her last rites were performed at her home-town. On May 10 last a youth named Sajidul Islam of Udalguri also reportedly committed suicide.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.

TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
