Pathsala shines in HSSLC 2016

Three students from Pathsala brought glory to the town bagging three ranks among the top 10 in the higher secondary examination 2016 results declared on Thursday.

Ilakshi Najir of Krishna Kanta Junior College ranked 6th (Arts) with 474 out of 500 (94.8℅) marks. Ilakshi is the daughter of Dilip kumar Nazir and Mina Nazir from Howly. Ilakshi used to study about seven to eight hours daily.

10th  position secured by Nirupama Roy of Raipur  village, daughter of Jogeswar Roy and Dipali Roy with 468 (Arts) marks from Bajali Higher Secondary College.

Suranjan Dev Sarma of Bajali college secured 474 out of 500 (10th position,  Science). Son of Late Pobin Sarma and Hira devi Sarma, Suranjan used to study about 9 to 10 hours in a day.

PATHSALA: Sensation prevails in Bajali subdivision area following the gruesome incident of fratricide at Purani Dumuria Chuba under Pathsala PS in Barpeta on Wednesday. Reportedly,Khargeswar Kalita(28) attacked his younger brother Diganta Kalita(22) with sharp weapons after a scuffle broke out over petty issues. The younger brother succumed to his injuries immediately. Though the accused tried to evade arrest by fleeing the scene, police nabbed him. He is currently under police custody at Pathsala PS.  
A severe accident occurred Thursday when a new KTM Duke bike and a Tata Sumo collided head-on on NH127 in Barpeta district leaving one dead on the spot and another seriousy injured.Two boys were reported speeding on the Pathsala-Bhutan highway when they collided near a Kali Mandir with a Tata Sumo coming from the opposite direction. Both vehicles instantly caught fire. The ongoing 41th Raas Mahatsov of Pathsala started from 14th November with colourfull programme. The event so far attracts huge number devotees from various parts of the state at 'Bhagawati Kshetra' Pathsala. An art exhibition is also being organised with more than three hundred clay arts symbolising lord Krishna. The exhibition also Rhino killings, Jurassic Park, moving Idol of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Anaconda, 3D show, Fear of Ghost, Big Cave, Cutting of Trees are some special attractions. Three poachers were arrested by Bajali police and a rhino horn recovered from them on Thursday. Pathsala police said that the poachers were trying to sell the rhino horn to a customer for Rs 15 lakh. The poachers have been identified as Harimohan Boro, Nareswar Goyari and Sylvester Kujur, natives of Baksa district. Police sent the horn to the state forensic laboratory in Guwahati.

A local girl from Bajali in Barpeta district fetches no less pride for Assam when she proficiency medal in Physics from Kanpur IIT. She is none other than Barnali Das,  a resident of Sariha Chakla at Patacharkuchi who grabbed general proficiency medal & proficiency medal in the 2 year Master of Science examination of Physics. People of Bajali are facing serious problems due to deplorable conditions of the roads. Roads connecting Pathsala Railway station to National Highway and from Titka, Pathla, Lasit nagar, Seuj Nagar, Santipur to Joytinagar in the heart of Pathsala town along with Muguria, Nitananda, Rampur, Haripur etc. hve never been repaired in the last several years. Walking and driving in these roads during rainy days becoming horrible experience and life-threatening. Local administration is inactive and colapsing.
The body of CRPF jawan Balen Harizon (28) who was killed in Maoist's attack in Jarkhand reached his birthplace in Bajali on Sunday. The last rites were performed in presence of thousands of people. Harizon was killed in an encounter with Maoists in the jungles of Patharchhapra in Giridih district, ‎Jharkhand‬ on Friday.  Harizon, son of Roghunath Harizon and Maloti Harizon of Gargaon in Bajali, is survived by his wife Barnali Harizon and son.
