ABMSU felicitates meritorious students

A total of 60 meritorious students,who were passed first division in HSLC and HS final examination were accorded warm wel come and felicitated at a programme held at Bhotgaon High School in Kokrajhar on Saturday.

The felicitation programme was organised by All BTC Minority Students Union(ABMSU) South Kokrajhar anchalik committee.Altogether 60 students passed in final examination with Assamese medium, of which 50 in HSLC and 10 HS under South Kokrajhar anchalik committee in Kokrajhar district.

Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar DC graced as chief guest on the occasion and felicitated the passed students with citation,Phulam Gamocha,gifts.

Sarma,in his speech said that education is the backbone of the society,without education society could not be uplift and developed.The society should be brought healthy and welfare in the region so that human resources could be developed in a suited way,he said.

‘Students always be dedicated while taking higher studies in their life to making develop living among society’,Sarma urged.

Lafiqul Islam Ahmed,president of the students union while addressing the function said that the students union has been organizing felicitation and educational activities among society to get educational uplift since inception of the union.He said that the students’ union was trying to organise door to door education programme in the region with immediate action to bring awareness about educational environment.

Jahangir Hussain,DPO,SSA Kokrajhar,Moynuddin Sheik,president Kokrajhar dsitrict unit ABMSU,were among others prominent attendies on the occasion.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.
