Rebel Congress leader Kalikho Pul refused to step down even a day after the Supreme Court reinstated Nabam Tuki as Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister. Talking to reporters in Guwahati on Thursday, he said “I am ready to prove my strength. Why should I resign. I am legally the Chief Minister.”

Flanked by his loyal legislators at a hotel in Guwahati, Pul claimed to have the support of 30 MLAs in his camp.

In yet another development, Nabam Tuki who resumed office as Chief Minister after the court ruling is holding a hectic parleys with his close associates and loyal legislators to form his council of ministers again. Top Congress leaders are also attending the meeting in Itanagar. Meanwhile, Assam BJKP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that Pul enjoyed the support of 30 MLAs.

Both Tuki and Pul camps had a hectic day on Thursday a day after the Supreme Court ordered both the camps to maintain "status quo ante as it prevailed on December 15" last year in Arunachal Pradesh.

Film maker Jahnu Baruah is planning a new documentary film where the relevant issues confronting the jail inmates would echo. The toll in Meghalaya road mishap has gone up to seventeen with the report of one more person in the hospital where 40 others are battling to survive at the hospital.The mishap took place in the morning near Nongspung village on West Khasi village when a truck carrying around 80 people to a church rammed into the boundary of a concrete bridge after the driver lost control over his vehicle.The churchgoers, mostly, fell into the deep gorge where 13 people died on the spot. Hundreds of activists from All Assam Bengali Youth Students Federation staged economic blockade at Srirampur along 31 C National Highway in protest against kidnapping of Ranjit Dutta, a businessman of Bhawanipur. Dutta was kidnapped by unknown miscreants on Tuesday last in Kokrajhar district. At least 16 people were killed at a tragic road mishap in Meghalaya on Sunday. The accident took place in West Khasi hills district in the morning where all these 16 people were killed on the spot where several others sustained grave injury. Details awaited.

In yet another feat by children of Udalguri district a total of 250 trainees of Jwhalao Dwimalu Martial Arts Club of Udalguri scripted records woth their performance at Thana Udalguri club premises recently. Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to end the economic blockades in Manipur if BJP is voted to power.
