The Kokrajhar district unit of All Bodo Students Union condemned inhuman treatment of Goutam Biswas of GB Enterprise, who supplied damaged rice, unfit for consumption, to the flood affected vulnerable people at Kashibari, North Patgaon, Habrubari in Kokrajhar Revenue Circle on July 22.
According to the sources, Goutam Biswas got order to supply 43.12 quintals of rice and 2.21 quital of salt (75 bags consisting 25kg each) of which 33 bags are found damaged, unfit for consumptiowhich were seized and his godown has also been sealed wuth an FIR lodged against him, but he is absconding. District police administration has failed to nab him till date
Under the circumstances the Union would like to urge the District civil and police Administration to investigate this matter seriously and nap the guilty contractor and punish him according to the provisions of law.
That, the affected people have revealed the present situation of what they have been facing are insufficient relief materials in terms of rice, oil, dal, medicine, mosquito’s net, plastics etc.. Many affected people of North Patgaon said that they are 63 families have been living in the relief camp since 7 days but they are provided only 9 KG rice, 1kg 6 grams dal, one mosquito’s net, one bottle pinel, half litre master oil, one piece Kombal, one piece umbrella per family, but they are not provided any medical facilities till our today’s afternoon and many affected people of Banglajhora said that they are 34 families living in the relief camp since 8 days but they have not provided any mosquito’s net and kombol and many affected people of new banglajhora, Kashibari, and west banglajhora have said that they have not provided anything except 10 kg rice and 1 kg dali per family.
So, we on behalf of flood victims would like to appeal to the districtadministrationn as well as district disaster management authorities to make a proper survey of those affected areas and provides sufficient relief materials and rehabilitation to those affected vulnerable because many of them have completely lost their house, agricultural crops and livestocks, said Nion Mushahary, general secretary, of Kokrajhar district, ABSU in a press release.
