Mahanta leaves BJP-led govt red faced

In a bizarre move that leaves the BJP-led government red faced on the floor on Monday, AGP thrashed the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre for the controversial move on the Hindu Bangladeshi nationals.

Former Chief Minister and AGP leader PK Mahanta said that he was dead opposed to the move and that it would be an insult to the spirit of Assam Accord.

However, AGP president Atul Bora who holds the agriculture minister looked very disappointed when his predecessor rose to speak on the controversial move to give refugee status for the Hindu nationals of the neighbouring countries.

Why Can't they go and settle in west bengal? Assam is already a semi-bengal. Mahanta did a good job by raising his opinion. Ruling the govt doesn't mean you don't have a voice against election manifesto.

At least 2 persons died and 14 others includibg five women received serious injured following thunderstorm in various places of Kokrajhar and Chirang district late last evening in Assam. While, Doctors in the Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma civil hospital said that injured are out of critical and sufficient treatments are being given. According to  eye witnesses the thunderstorms struck peoples at Simbargaon, Jharbari, Karigaon of Kokrajhar district where two persons (one man and woman) died and 12 others sustained injured at around 5 . 30 pm. A smooth passage of the Indo-Bangla land swap deal is expected to resolve two issues confronting Assam for the last several decades. Sources told Assam Times that Dhaka is all prepared to extradite Anup Chetia who has been languishing in jail for the last two decades. “Chetia is aware of his possible extradition and he is fully prepared to land in his native place. Unidentified miscreants shot dead a couple in Dhubri creating no less sensation in the entire district on Friday. Local residents in Kushakati told Assam Times that three unidentified gunmen barged into their house on Friday wee hours and started indiscriminate firing at Abdul Kalam and Sabina Bibi.The couple died on the spot and the gunmen left the spot. Their bodies were recovered in the morning. Police officials arrived in the spot and the investigation is going on.

A Python was rescued by local people of Mushalpur area of Baksa district on Thursday.According to local people, the Python was noticed by some peoples at a place called Karemura under Mushalpur subdivision and later informed to forest department. The local peoples handed over it to forest official . Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is in a mood to finalise further expansion of his ministry. Gogoi who is camping in New Delhi is meeting Dr CP Joshi on Friday. The chief minister is finalising the names of four legislators who would be inducted afresh in the cabinet.
