In a bizarre move that leaves the BJP-led government red faced on the floor on Monday, AGP thrashed the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre for the controversial move on the Hindu Bangladeshi nationals.
Former Chief Minister and AGP leader PK Mahanta said that he was dead opposed to the move and that it would be an insult to the spirit of Assam Accord.
However, AGP president Atul Bora who holds the agriculture minister looked very disappointed when his predecessor rose to speak on the controversial move to give refugee status for the Hindu nationals of the neighbouring countries.

Why Can't they go and settle in west bengal? Assam is already a semi-bengal. Mahanta did a good job by raising his opinion. Ruling the govt doesn't mean you don't have a voice against election manifesto.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has ordered probe into the death of 14 workers in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya on Tuesday.Talking to Assam Times, officials said that the chief minister has asked additional chief secretary S Meora to probe the incident where the workers from Golakganj area in Dhubri district were found dead in their camp on Monday as they were engaged in a construction project in Saipung area.A few local residents told Assam Times that they died after consuming poisonous food. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi expressed grave concern over the alarming rate of pendency of cases which he blamed it on the delay in the delivery of justice.In his address at the Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts on Sunday in Delhi, he said, the synergy must be directed towards innovation of new ways that will enable clearing of backlog of pending cases and ensure speedy justice to our citizens.He called for proper training of judicial officers to maintain the quality of the system.
