Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day

Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.

An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

P Hazarika,general manager,DICC,Dhrubajyoti Nath,Associate Professor,Nilotpal Saha,Associate Professor,Kokrajhar Govt College,Nilson Basumatary, faculty member of U Co,RSETI attended as resource person with Binay Kumar Brahma, principal Kokrajhar Govt College in the chair.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.

A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

Kokrajhar: The All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU)  slammed the state government as well district administration for not allowing the students union to stage protest against D-voters issue in the state.  AAMSU was supposed to stage a protest against government over D-voters’ issue in Kokrajhar town near Children Park. KOKRAJHAR:  The continuous downpour has turned into a grim situation in Kokrajhar district as 13 villages under Bhawraguri revenue circle have been engulfed by flood affecting the populace. A total of 45 people of Mukuldang No. 1 (Harinpur) village were rescued on Wednesday by Fire and Emergency Services under Gossaigaon sub-division in the district. KOKRAJHAR: A 55 year old person identified as one Bhaidhya Oraon,who was reportedly drowned at Hel River was recovered at Singimari village under Fakiragram PS in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.The incident took place at Singimari village on Monday evening. A joint team of police, SDRF and local people started search operation to fish out the body since early morning and retrieved the body. The person was missing after he went  for fishing. The family members of the deceased identified the body which was later sent for post-mortem.
