Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day
Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.
An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.
A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

Kokrajhar, Jan 5: Noted Bodo novelist, Chittaranjan Mashahary has been re-hospitalized due to ailment at MRM hospital in Kokrajhar. Mashahary has been suffering from multiple-diseases in his 76-years-old. BTC executive member Rajib Brahma ensures to bear all kinds of medical expenditures for Mashahary treatment and hope his early recovery. Kokrajhar: A section of angry residents in Kokrajhar thrashed a ration dealer accusing him of resorting to unfair deal with the beneficiaries. The incident took place on Friday where a group of beneficiaries from Ghoskata village caught the dealer Budu Brahma alias Sahen Basumatary and charged him of deliberately doing anomalies in the distribution of rations through cooperative societies where the real beneficiaries were reprieved. KOKRAJHAR:Yet another NDFB-S rebel has landed in police dragnet who was arrested in Baksa district on Saturday. Acting on a tip off, Balsa police launched a sudden operation at Bennabari area where the rebel, identified as Rabiram Swargiary, was arrested. Police further claimed to gave seized a hand grenade from his possession. Interrogation is going on to extract the i formation on the whereabouts of other rebels who are believed to have been moving in the BTAD areas.
NALBARI: Six persons of a family were killed when the car in which they were travelling slipped into a deep gorge in Nalbari district on Saturday. The incident took place in the afternoon when the entire family members were on their way back to home after visiting a relative. As the car reached Balikuchi area, the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle which slipped into the gorge which was deep. There was no survivor. Local residents and police came to rescue them. But nobody was found alive.
