Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day
Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.
An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.
P Hazarika,general manager,DICC,Dhrubajyoti Nath,Associate Professor,Nilotpal Saha,Associate Professor,Kokrajhar Govt College,Nilson Basumatary, faculty member of U Co,RSETI attended as resource person with Binay Kumar Brahma, principal Kokrajhar Govt College in the chair.
Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.
A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

KOKRAJHAR: A mysterious death of a woman in Kokrajhar no less spreads sensation in Sesapani area from Monday morning. The Adivasi women was found dead in a house where she has been staying for the last three days. Police rushed to the house where the mother of two children was found dead under mysterious circumstances. But by then Insaf Ali, in whose house the woman stayed vanished. Local residents called it an incident of killing since Insaf had an illecit affair with the Adivasi woman who worked with a tea garden.
Kokrajhar,Dec 11: Despite round-the-clock vigil, Bangladeshi immigrants keep coming from across the border without any hindrance. Kokrajhar police have arrested yet another immigrant after he was picked up by local residents in Duramari area in Koktajhar whom a local court sent to the jail on Monday. Identified as Alamin Islam, the 19 year old immigrant driver told police that he came to the area by Rajdhani Express a couple of days back. He could not produce any identity proof before disclosing that he hailed from Kanai Bortola near Chari Chikka College, Muktagacha Satraisia, Muktagacha (PO) of Mymensingh district of Bangladesh.
Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) has expressed grave concern over the affiliation impasse of 23 colleges under Bodoland University which re-clubbed with Guwahati University in a haste. Kokrajhar,Dec 9: As man as 23 Colleges from BTAD areas have re-clubbed with Guwahati University from Bodoland University due to lack of 12B issue setting at rest the huge confusion among the students. But,the semester examination in Bodoland Univerity is underway with thin participations. NRC officials, who are engaged in NRC Seva Kendra have been doing door to door verification of NRC in their respective areas to check NRC related documents with proper procedure. KOJRAJHAR:The security forces deployed in the counter insurgency operation in BTAD areas have arrested a hardcore NDFB-S rebel during a combing operation in Chirang on Saturday. Acting on a tip off, army, police and SSB jawans launched a vigorous operation in Sahebghat area where Himalayan Basinatary was held who is said to be an expert in IED manufacturing and explosion. Kokrajhar, Dec 9: The mortal remains of Baneswar Basumatary consigned to the flames on Saturday a day after the founding president of the All Bodo Student's Union (ABSU) and social activist passed away. Basumatary passed away at his residence at Koklabari in Baksa district following prolonged illness on Friday. KOKRAJHAR:The security forces deployed in the counter insurgency operation in BTAD areas claimed to have eliminated yet anotherNDFB-S rebel in Chirang on Monday. According to what the authority says the rebel was killed at an encounter which took place in Shantipur near Runikhata bordering Bhutan. The rebel has yet to be identified and some arms and ammunition were believed to have been seized from his possession.
