Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.

An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

P Hazarika,general manager,DICC,Dhrubajyoti Nath,Associate Professor,Nilotpal Saha,Associate Professor,Kokrajhar Govt College,Nilson Basumatary, faculty member of U Co,RSETI attended as resource person with Binay Kumar Brahma, principal Kokrajhar Govt College in the chair.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.

A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

GB FC lift martyrs gold cup

Gabinda Basumatary (GB) FC, Zaraguri won the Bodoland martyrs gold cup football championship -2017 defeating NFR, Maligaon by 1-0 goal in the final match today being held at KDSA stadium ground in Kokrajhar. For GB FC,  C Gnene scored lone goal in the 70th minutes of the second half against NFR and won the championship. C Gnene of GB FC was adjusted best player. Gold medalist pugilist Ankushita Boro received a heroic welcome as she landed Kojrajhar first time after scripting history.  BTADB administration along with several other organisations  felicitated her at a programme at the KDSA ground in the evening. BTC to rehabilitate for Amchang settlers

'BTC administration is preparing to rehabilitatein Bodoland those evicted settlers in Amchang  if Chief Minister gives his consent. Talking to reporters, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary said the eviction in the Amchang wild life sanctuary was conducted under strict guide lines of law. It was duty of the government to evict illegally settlers along the Amchang forest. 'BTC administration will provide shelteing facility to the Amchang evicted persons if CM offers allowed us to rehabilitate', Mohilary said.

Bhutan women defeat KDSA XI

Bengali Youth Students Federation stage dharna

BTC Bengali Youth Student’s Federation staged a 2.30 hour sit-in-dharna in front of DC office in Kokrajhar on Monday demanding steps yo stop of excess on the Hindu Bengali community in the name of D-voter issue. Hundreds of students activists and Bengali speaking citizens with banner, placards participated the dharna and shouted slogans, on demand of early update of NRC in the in the state and stop of harassed of Hindu Bengalis peoples in the name of D-voters in the state. Hog deer rescued in Baksa

A hog deer was rescued after it slipped into a pond at Koklabari agriculture farm in Baksa district of BTAD on Sunday.The animal  was spotted by the villagers at a pond which is felt on pond clay and saw injuries on its one leg.Following information about Hog Deer's fall to the pond clay, a joint team of Manas Maozigendri Ecotourism Society,a NGO and forest department rushed the spot and rescued the Deer from Koklabari agriculture farm, outside of Manas National Park.

National Expo going on in Kokrajhar

A national handloom expo -2017-18,Kokrajhar is going on at the Rashmela ground in Kokrajhar. The expo was organised by BRAWFED in association with development commissioner for handlooms, ministry of textiles. Rajib Brahma, BTC executive member graced as chief guest and lighted the lamp to inaugurate expo. A total 52 stalls from different states, including a Bhutanese stall are participating the expo. The expo will continue till December 7 next.
