Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day

Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.

An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

P Hazarika,general manager,DICC,Dhrubajyoti Nath,Associate Professor,Nilotpal Saha,Associate Professor,Kokrajhar Govt College,Nilson Basumatary, faculty member of U Co,RSETI attended as resource person with Binay Kumar Brahma, principal Kokrajhar Govt College in the chair.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.

A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

One person sustained bullet injury as he escaped the bid on life in Kokrajhar on Thursday. The incident took place at Dhumbazar early in the morning. At-least three armed assailants fired from closed range at Dhmbazar by 5 in the morning, which led the person to be hospitalized for receiving serious bullet injuries on his chest and body. The injury civilian was identified as Rashna Basumatary (33) of Dhumbazar. Immediately after incident, Rashna was first admitted at MRM hospital and later referred to Bongaigaon Lower Assam hospital due to critical condition. The death of a homeguard under mysterious circumstance brews no less anger and shock rin Kokrajhar Tuesday. Identified as Hanif Ali (37), he was posted at Bishmuri police outpost who died at a mysterious road mishap on the 31C National Highway early in the morning. He was believed to have crushed to death by a speeding truck as he was on duty. But his family members have alleged that the concern authority has not detailed them about the incident. He hailed from Mokrambil Tulsibil under Gossaigaon sub-division.
In a joint operation carried out by police and army at Batabari under Bijni PS in Chirang, apprehended a cadre of NDFB-S early this morning. He was identified as Subal Chumpramari alias Suglai. À 9mm pistol (hand made) along with nine live ammunitions recovered.
A villager is battling with death at a hospital in Kokrajhar after he sustained serious injury in elephant attack. The incident took place in Lungsung forest where a wild elephant attacked him as he was collecting firewood in the forest. Identified as Dhrubajit Brahma, he was rushed to the Kokrajhar Civil Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Baksa district beat Chirang district 2-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTC -Army goodwill football premier league-2017 being held at SAI centre in Kokrajhar on Saturday. For Baksa, Golap Basumatary netted first goal in the initial 2nd minutes of the match against Chirang and led the match 1-0 in the first half. Again, Sanjib Deka of Baksa netted another goal in 80th minutes against Chirang which led the team to defeat 2-0 goals and lifted the trophy. 
Congress leaders and workers in Kojrajhar observed ‘Black Day’ to mark the one year of demonetization along with other parts of the country.  Daily wage earner and tea estate workers expressed their anger and resented over the government for not availing facilities like ATM services after the country had observed demonetization initiative for the country.  Hundreds of Congress leaders and supporters joined the protest rally holding black flag carried out in Kokrajhar, which was organized by Kokrajhar district Congress committee.
