Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day

Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.

An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

P Hazarika,general manager,DICC,Dhrubajyoti Nath,Associate Professor,Nilotpal Saha,Associate Professor,Kokrajhar Govt College,Nilson Basumatary, faculty member of U Co,RSETI attended as resource person with Binay Kumar Brahma, principal Kokrajhar Govt College in the chair.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.

A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

A community fishing drew no less joy on Tuesday at Samarpur Samoka River near Bishmuri in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. Huindreds of people from all walks of life from different areas thronged at the River since early morning for fishing after the Samoka River Sluice Irrigation opened the water through irrigation project. The river bank looked like festivity situation.    Peoples got huge fishes like Borali,Shool,Bami,Kushia by Jakoi, Dura and some other fishing items which seemed like a festivity situation along the river.

Security forces claimed  to have arrested a NDFB-S rebel during a joint operation at Mandarguri area in Chirang district on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off,  input, army, police and para military forces carried out a joint search operation along the Indo-Bhutan border where the rebel was captured who was identified as Swmkwr Narzary @ N Sibilang. A road construction worker died and two others sustained serious injury when the rope of the crane engaged in the work breached at Musolpur in Bagsa district on Monday.  The incident took place in the evening where the workers were engaged with the road construction. Eye witness told Assam Times that the mishap took place when the crane hit upon the workers after the rope used in it breached because of technical snag. Identified as Gopesh Patgiri of Salbari, he died on thr spot while the two other injured have been undergoing treatment at the Nalbari hospital who were identified as Debojit Kalita and Amar Chetry.

 Security forces in Kokrajhar apprehended an ultra belonging to Rabha Vipers Army (RVA) from Kopati in Karigaon on Sunday. Based on inut about presence of RVA ultras, a joint team of Kazigaon police and 17 Dogra regiment caried out a search operation against the rebels where they arrested RVA ultra.
