Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day
Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.
An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.
A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi lashed-ouit at the BJP-led state government for their failure to provide safety and security to people of the state. At least sixteen persons received serious injuries due to lightening at two different villages under Gurubasha police outpost in Chirang district late last evening. According to source from the area, sixteen persons received injuries for heavy thunder and lightning yesterday afternoon. The injures were immediately rushed the JSB Hospital, Kajalgaon, who were road construction labors nearby Gurubasha in Chirang district. Two of them are said to be critical.

The All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union President, Lafikul Islam Ahmed was shot dead Tuesday evening at Titaguri bazaar in Kokrajhar. The incident took place at about 4:30 pm when two helmet bearing armed miscreants on a bike shot at Ahmed from point blank range when he was in a tiles shop. In the indiscriminate firing that ensued a staff of the shop sustained two bullet injuries.
