NDFB (S) informer held

Police apprehended a suspected over ground worker/sympathizer of NDFB-S identified as Paulina Basumatary 22, wife of a NDFB-S cadre Compounder alias Khaose from No 1 Nandipur village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district .

Police said Rs 15,000 (extorted from Audung Bazar area) have been recovered from her possession which was supposed to be handed over to NDB-S cadre.

She was working as a channel of communication between the NDFB-S cadres and over ground worker in that area through her husband. She has been playing a very important role in siphoning off extortion money to the outfit in Myanmar through the OGWs/sympathisers.

AKRSU factions to reunite to fight for common cause

42 injured hospitalised after lathi-charge in Salakati

There are still 42 injured persons taking treatment at different hospitals in lower Assam districts afterthe  lathi-charged incident at Salakati railway station in Kokrajhar on Thursday. Police has been kept 11 agitators on their custody since Thursday. On the other hand, ABMSU demands early released of detained persons without any condition in earliest manner. Fire ravages shops in Kokrajhar

Properties worth twelve lakhs were reduced to ashes when a massive  fire gutted at  least four shops in Kojrajhar on Monday. The fire broke out at a tea shop in Balajan Tinali Bazar in the wee hours which spread to the adjacent shops. The situation aggravated LPG cylinders exploded under the impact of the fire.  Two fire tenders from Kokrajhar took three hours to douse the flames. The shop owners have alleged it to be a handiwork of the miscreants.
