The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on 25 August apprehended four cattle smugglers from the Indo-Bangladesh border area. Days back, the BSF troops under Guwahati frontier seized a large number of cattle heads meant for smuggling to Bangladesh from the same Dhubri international border locality.
“The cattle smugglers were identified as Rahim Ali (age 39 years), Jahikul Islam (57), Muktadul Hassan (33) and Sahidul Islam (24). All of them hail from Mankachar in South Salmara district of Assam. The BSF troop caught them red-handed while they were trying to smuggle the cattle to Bangladesh. They were already handed over to the local police,” said a statement issued by the Guwahati based BSF office.
Earlier the BSF personnel seized a large number of cattle from the same location on the night of 23 and 24 August. Altogether 312 cattle heads worth around rupees 24,25,800 were seized from the riverine border area.
