As part of educational research and training curriculum prescribed by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), 92 trainee teachers from District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Barpeta, one of the pioneer government educational institutes in Assam, visited Sainik School Goalpara ( SSG) on October Thursday. The visiting team also comprised of Dr Kula Ranjan Deka, the Principal, Mr Mrinal Choudhury, senior lecturer (who is an ex-teacher of Sainik School Goalpara) and five more lecturers from the institute. During their visit, the team saw the infrastructure and various education facilities in the school, viz. the Academic Block, Science Block, Labs, MI Room, dormitories, Cadets’ Mess, swimming pool, various sports fields etc. A presentation was given by Sqn Ldr D Mathew on the occasion. He apprised the visiting members of the objectives of the school, various activities and training conducted in the school round the year to make the cadets both mentally and physically fit for entry into the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune. The trainee teachers were much impressed by the conducive environment in the school campus. They were extremely happy to visit the school and even expressed their willingness to join the school as teachers in their future endeavour. Noteworthy to mention that, Sainik School Goalpara, which has completed fifty years of its glorious existence, is the only institute of its kind in Assam and has over 300 ex-SSGians to its credit as Officers in Defence Services.
