Apollo doctor conducts evening OPD at press club

Dr Madan Mohan Reddy, senior consultant on orthopedic surgery from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai attended the 'Evening with a Doctor' program on Saturday (26 November 2016) at Guwahati Press Club (GPC). Over 25 GPC member-journalists along with their relatives participated in the evening OPD and got free consultations on various ailments like back-neck- knee pain, major fractures, arthritis etc. Apollo’s marketing officer Roopjyoti Baruah assisted in conducting the camp.

The next evening clinic on 3 December at GPC premises will be attended by eye specialists Dr Subhra Kinkor Goswami & Dr Bijuli Goswami of Sight First. The camp will begin at 4 pm and continue till 6 pm for the benefit of GPC member-journalists.

Seven persons received serious in different two road mishaps in Kokrajhar town on Saturday evening.  Six persons sustained serious injuries due to Eon vehicle hit a scooty and bicycle at Tengapara in Kokrajhar town late last evening at around 8.30pm. Injuries were admitted immediately at MRM Hospital in Kokrajhar. They were identified as Badal Chouhan, Raja Brahma, Hatarki Mohilary, Mrinal Brahma, Dwimu Basumatary and Niranjan Basumatary.  In separate mishap at Bhawanipur near NRL oil depot, a person received serious injured. He was identified as Daoharu Narzary.   
The two-day self-defence training camp for lady scribes concluded on Sunday morning at Guwahati Press Club. Organized by the Greater Guwahati Amateur Muaythai Club in association with the press club, the training on self-defence technique was participated by over 20 scribes and journalism students. A group of physicians from the Government Ayurvedic College, Jalukbari on Saturday conducted the weekly evening OPD at Guwahati Press Club for the benefit of media persons. Led by Dr Jayanta Sarmah and Dr Neelakshi Dev Choudhury, the group comprising Dr Chiranjib Mahanta, Dr Ruman Hussain, Dr Purnima Deuri and Dr Susmita Pegu examined the health of the participants with random blood sugar, blood pressure and BMI tests. Assam BJP leadership are believed to have been preparing a panel of senior MLAs to be finalized for the post of assembly Speaker in lieu of Ranjit Das who is set to take the rein of the state unit.Senior BJP leaders told Assam Times that they are considering the name of Siddharth Bhattacharya as suitable successor on the floor of the House. A moving train in Nagaon district crushed to death  three wild elephants sending huge shockwaves to the animal lovers.The shocking incident took place at Kampur area in the morning when a train rammed into a herd of wild elephants as they came down from a nearby hill in search of food.The local villagers came to see the bodies only in the morning. “ As I was about to wake up I came to hear the horn of train. Senior Congress leader and MLA Membor Gogoi passed away in Jorhat on Saturday. Gogoi, three time MLA from Teok died in the wee hours after prolonged illness. Congress, BJP, AGP leaders along with many local organizations deeply condoled the death of the 85 year old Congress leaders and conveyed their deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
After months of hectic confabulations the central BJP leadership have appointed senior party leader Ranjit Das as the state unit president of Assam. Manipur might mire in yet another orgy of violence in near future as the Joint Council of Naga Civil Society has threatened to go to any extent alleging that the governments in state and Centre have disregarded the Naga peace framework. In a statement, the organization questioned the creation of three new districts Kongpokpi, Jiribam and Tengnopol saying that it would stock a massive anger and protest once again. A collection of adventure stories in Assamese named Kutkut-Tuktukar Abhiyan by journalist-writer Nilotpal Barua was released at Guwahati Press Club on Thursday. Published by Pratishruti Prakashan, the book comprises eight stories, which were earlier published in popular Assamese children monthly ‘Sofura’. The book was officially released by Rupam Barua, editor of Sofura in presence of journalists Nava Thakuria, Bedabrat Bora, Abinash Sharma etc.
