Rhino poaching rerun in Kaziranga

Poachers have killed yet another rhino in the Kaziranga National Park for horn triggering anger among the cross section of the people who blamed the authority for it.

The incident took place early in the morning in the Burhapahar range if the park near the Tunikati camp where the poachers shot a full fledged rhino dead and took away the horn.

Forest guards spotted the animal in the morning. “We don't understand why the forest guards are ill prepared which is why one after another rhino is killed for horn. The authority is to be blamed for it,” said Aboni Saikia, a local resident in Kohora.

Gita kaki Chutia, a local nature lover in Bagori said,”when the BJP led government was installed we came to see a ray of hope. We thought that the government would not allow these to continue. But we were wrong. Nothing has changed.”
