With the focal theme of this year's International women's day 'Be Bold for change ' the day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Tangla College on Thursday. The programme iniated with the inauguration of bulletin board of Dept. of English by Dr.Anjali Chakravorty Vice-Principal Tangla College. The bulletin board compiled by Jayanta Chakravorty had achievements and stories of great womens in various fields.
An impressive competitive events was also held specially among girl students in the college conference hall.The day was observed in an unconventional manner and unlike the usual seminars and symposia students participated in Mehendi design competition,art and painting competition,embroidery competition and Rangoli art competition. The function was inaugurated by Aloka Devi retd. Vice-Principal of the college. The students of the college showcasing their creativity presented colourful bonanza in rangoli making and eye-catching mehendi designs.
Rangoli Art had painted the college verandah with colour of love, as woman adds colour to everybody’s life. The art also projected value of girl child and how education is vital for the upliftment of women folks .
Prof. Shubra Ghosh said that the competitive events are basically focused to outcast the creative talents of girl students . In the event of Rangoli Art Sutapa Sarkar and her team stood first, Papiya Dey and her group bagged second while Sushmita Kar and her group stood third.
