Wild elephants kills 1, injures 2

One person died on the spot while two others received injury due to elephant attack on SUnday night at Saralpara village along Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district.

According to villagers, a herd of wild elephant reached the village by 10 pm and vandalized around five houses too in the village where a person was trampled to death and two others received serious injuries. Injured were rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital. Victim was identified as Lal Bahadur Chetry (58), and injures are Dinonath Adhikari (70) and one is yet to he known. 

Forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma said that the wild elephants come out along the human habituated area in search of foods, so the conflict in between man and elephants are happening in the state

Altogether 80 teachers  received appointment letters for the post of headteacher and assistant headteacher in High Schools at a programme held at BTC secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar in Friday. The appointment letter was issued by education department of BTC. Seventy three was appointed as headteacher and seven are as assistant headteacher in the four districts of BTAD.  A pall of gloom descends in Kokrajhar when five children met watery grave in the district in the post flood scene during that last 24 hours.  All the minor boys  were drowned in two different villages in Gosaaigaon circle . There seems some let up in the flood situation in Kokrajhar district on Monday where six people died snd nearly 1 lakh rendered homeless. The water level of the major rivers seems to have shown a receding trend from the afternoon and if this trend continues, the flood waters would recede gradually. But many relief camps are said to have fallen short of materials to accommodate the affected people who were evacuated to the relief camps'.
