The Namrup Lalpaguri Ghat Bridge over the river Disang has been in a bad shape causing immense suffering for the commuters.

The temporary bridge is the sole route  for the people of  Namrup in Lalpaguri Ghat  which was washed away by the flood waters causing immense inconvenience to the people of Nalini Pathar ,Japihojia, Utarhundar, Duinon hundor, Borochalli, Narayan Pathar, Tiklagor, Borpatra, Nepalikhuti and  Panjabi. The incessant rains worsen the situation.

Former Sonari MLA Sarat Borotoky laid the foundation stone of the bridge in the year 2011-12. But still  the construction is delayed forcing the people of that area to urge the government to take necessary step for immediate completion of the bridge .

NAMRUP: Yet another sensational killing of a two year old kid in Naharkatiya sends huge shockwave and anger across the state on Wednesday. The bizarre incident took place at Boiragipara where the body of Zerin, the child of Sahid Ali was found inside a box bed of a neighbour. Sukafa award to Bimal Borpatra Gohain

The Assam Government will confer Sukapha award to noted Tai scholar Bimal Borpatra Gohain on Saturday. NAMRUP: More than 600 people in a remote hamlet in Namup have reasons to smile. Courtesy Naharkatiya MLA Naren Sonowal. Decade long potable water crisis no longer would put these villagers in dire straights. Sonowal formally opened water connectivity in Panisukia Bongaon near the Joyepur Reserve Forest on Sunday. In his address he said," when I came to know the acuate potable water crisis during the time of polls I promised to provide the villagers a solution which is permanent. Elephant menace grips Namrup rural areas

A huge herd of wild elephants unleashed no less reign of terror in a vast rural area in Namrup on Tuesday forcing the forest authority to step in. Comprising around 16 full grown wild elephants, the herd managed to sneak into the rural areas of Joyepur in search of food on Monday night damaging, crops, fruits and vegetables till Tuesday. A few of these elephants are moving on the roads and backyards of the houses in search of food even as the villagers and forest guards deployed there have been following the wanton creatures in broad day light. Thermal power replacement project facing uncertainty

NAMRUP:Two back to back incidents have brewed no less trouble for the Namrup-based thermal power plant at a time when power shortage has been plauging the north east Indian state. The incidents in question took place in the thermal power replacement plant which BHEL started construction eight years back. The first setback for the ₹560 crore project took place in September where a ravaging fire broke out under mysterious circumstances.
