The Bodo Writers' Academy (BWA), an organization of Bodo writers’ has been eyed introduction of Bodo language as medium of instruction in the Bodoland University (BU), which is the only university in BTAD region. The academy submitting a memorandum to the vice-chancellor (VC) of the Bodoland University urged for making step to introduced Bodo language as medium of instruction in the undergraduate courses in the university while paving way development and gain of Bodo language.
Speaking the reporters at a Press Conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club in Kokrajhar on Wednesday, Rajen Basumatary, president of the academy told that the Bodo Writers’ Academy was working for the development and uplift of the Bodo language and literature in the world. Presently, the academy has been announced Mission-2020 of Bodo Writers’ Academy in which several agenda and programmes have been projected to make the Bodo language and its literature to be forwarded as the one of the scientific languages and be accepted by everyone in the world.
He informed that a fourteen members’ delegation team of the academy under the leadership of Rajen Basumatary, president of the academy met Prof Hemanta Kumar Baruah, Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar at his office chamber on Wednesday in Kokrajhar to discuss regarding the introduction of Bodo language as the one of the medium of instruction in the undergraduate courses (B.A, B.Sc and B.Com) and to give scopes to present/submit the research papers (thesis) in the Master of Philosophy (M. Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D).
He said that Vice-Chancellor of the University gave kind patience interest on the memorandum submitted and assured that the university will take measures on introduction of Bodo language in undergraduate courses. He said that the Bodo language has right to claim to be the medium of instruction in all educational institutions in India as it is a scheduled language of the country.
Interestingly, he has opined that the Bodoland University has already introduced the Bodo language as the medium of instruction in writing and submitting of research papers in the Ph.D and M.Phil.
