Salbagan FC lift trophy

Salbagan Football Club, Gossaigaon lifted the Kanakeswar Narzary Memorial Football Trophy defeating Sanswrang Sports Club, Serfanguri 3-0 goals in the final match at Ramfalbil Rupnath Brahma memorial ground in Kokrajhar on Friday.

For Salbagan,Uranjay Brahma netted first goal in 31st minutes against Sanswrang. Again Joseph netted second goal in 36th minutes which led the team 2-0 in the first half. Mitinga Narzary again netted third goal in 80th minutes in the second half against Sanswrang and the won the trophy in 3-0 goals.

Nijwm Basumatary of Salbagan was adjust best player in the championship and was awarded trophy and cash 1000.

Rabiram Narzary, MLA Kokrajhar graced as chief guest and gave away trophy and cash Es. 15,000.

Indramahan Brahma, ex-BTC MCLA given away runners up trophy and cash Rs. 10,000. The football trophy was organised by Ramfalbil anchalik sports association (RASA) in memory of late Kanakeswar Narzary, founding general secretary of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU).

Footballer Apurna Narzary to receive Emerging Player award in Bodoland Territorial Region

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. The award includes a citation, traditional Aronai, and a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh. The festival also featured a Hills trekking competition and traditional food showcase competition.

BTR Peace Accord Day celebrated

On Friday, the government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) observed the third BTR Peace Accord Day as "Day of Peace" on Friday.  A massive bike peace rally was held in Kokrajhar, the "City of Peace." Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
