The 18th edition of the Bodoland martyrs gold cup football championship-2017 kicked off at KDSA stadium ground in Kokrajhar on Saturday. In the inaugural match, NF Railway,Maligaon beat Dhupdhara Football Academy, Goalpara 3-0 goals.
For NFR, Jilendra Brahma netted first goal in 30th minutes and Sibra Narzary scored two goals in 34th and 37th minutes against Dhupdhara in the first half and led the match 3-0 goals.Tge Dhupdhara tried to reduced the goals, yet lost to NFR team.
Tomorrow, Kamrupa FC, Guwahati will take on Daimalu FC, Udalguri. Altogether 12 teams across the different states,included ASEB, Guwahati, Assam Riffles,Guwahati,Shillong FC,Udangshri SC, Barama etc. The championship is being organised by Ex-BLT welfare society and Kokrajhar district sports association.
Janardhan Dev Goswami, Satradikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra attending as chief guest inaugurated the martyrs gold cup football championship. Dev Goswami while inaugurating the championship extended his best wishes to all participants and hoped that the championsip would meet a grand success.
The championship has been organised in memory of Bodoland martyrs,who sacrifice their lives for the cause of Bodoland movement,said convenor of the organising committee of the championship. Among others, Rabiram Narzary, MLA Kokrajhar west, BTC executive members Doneswar Goyary,Rajib Brahma.
