Disrupting leopard killed, consumed in Namrup

NAMRUP:A section of people in a remote hamlet in Namrup killed a leopard hours after it killed a lady and hurt 3 others in a series of attack on Friday morning. Not only that after lynching, the villagers cut the animal into pieces in full view of the forest officials. Then they  claimed to have consumed it triggering widespread anger among the animal lovers.

These disturbing incidents took place in Majkopihuwa goan and Asomiya Gaon where the local villagers in large number chased the leopard after it killed Maikon Gogoi and injuring three others in s series of attacks in the morning.

The animal then was beaten up to death. A section of them cut it into pieces to vanished. Some of them later claimed to have consumer it which needs to be probed.

The reason why the leopard attacked people is not mentioned. A leopard won't just go on an attack spree. I would assume that these would have been either chance encounters or the leopard retaliating when provoked

New Delhi : In yet another significant development in the field of politics,  Assam's former Congress president and outgoing Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora quits the party and joined TMC on Sunday. New Delhi: The Centre has withdrawn AFSPA  1958 from 24 districts in view of an improved law and order situation. According to the notification, it would come into force from April 1,2022. Apart from the hills districts, AFSPA will be in force in Sivasagar, Jorhat,  Tinsukia.  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Centre for the decision and hoped that the Act would be a thing of the past for the entire state in the near future. 
New Delhi: Assam and Meghalaya claimed to have settled an interstate border dispute in 6 places at a meeting of Chief Ministers with the Union's home minister in New Delhi on Tuesday. The agreement was formally signed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta  Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma after a meeting that evening. Guwahati: Independent MLA from Sivasagar has strongly objected to the state assembly Speaker’s ruling on cross voting in the Rajya Sabha polls. Gogoi said that it was not proper for the Speaker to say that nobody could be disqualified for cross voting in the Rajya Sabha polls. He further alleged the partial role of Assembly Speaker Biswajeet Daimary, accusing him of disrupting the Opposition party MLAs.

Guwahati: A mounting pressure from the major political parties is likely to force the state election authority to revise the schedule for the upcoming GMC polls slated for April 19.      Major political parties have moved state election offices demanding a revised schedule of GMC polls covering 60 wards in the capital city.
